zenith carb for 960

just received a zenith carb(Part No: 13877) for my 960, i like these carbs, have one on my 871 and 8n, the 960 has a settlement bowl with a male connector that is much bigger then the female receiver on the zenith, don't remember having this issue on my 871, had an old male gas line connector from an old 8n that i thought i could use and that was too big for this zenith carb, did yt send me the wrong carb?

thanks dave

Your sediment bowl should be held on with a banjo bolt.
There were two sizes of banjo bolts used, 3/8 and 7/16
Is the Zenith you have is made for a flare fitting or a banjo bolt?

i just checked out my old carb that i replaced with a zenith carb from my 871 and it has that smaller inlet(3/8), the inlet on
the old 960 carb is 7/16 banjo style and i believe the zenith carb is set for the banjo style, any ideas how to approach this
problem, is it as simple as using an adapter?

thanks dave

When I swap sizes with Marvel Scheblers, I just swap the the
banjo bolt and sediment bowl for the size that fits the carb.
BUT, be aware that some of the tractors/bowls also use a
larger line than others so that has to match up too.

The screw in shutoff valves on the x00 use 1/4 in line I believe,
and the sediment bowl has to match that line regardless of the
size of the banjo bolt.

I have a sediment bowl with the larger banjo bolt but the smaller
line. I use it to test x01/x000 carbs on my 960 fuel line.
That won't help you with this endeavor, its just an example.
I can show it to you when you're over this way.
Bring your carb(s) if you want to match parts up.

I'd also be interested in the old carbs if you want to part with them.

got a 3/8 banjo bolt and 3/8 sediment bowl assembly coming, the line coming from the fuel tank is larger then 1/4 fuel line, any problem with adapting the larger fuel line down to 1/4 just before sediment bowl assembly?

thanks dave

I don't see an issue as long as it doesn't push your flex line into something
that it will rub on or melt against. Assuming, of course, that the
adapter seals well so that it doesn't leak. That's probably overly obvious!

when i come to pick up choke rod i will bring carbs, if you go through them they will be like new, i just like the zenith carbs,
my tractors all end up in the upper peninsula of michigan and want them as dependable as possible, my property is 4 miles at the
end of a 2 track

thanks dave
