1959 861 ford temperature gauge

1st time here, so there might be an answer some where in here that I have not seen. If so sorry about that. MY 1959 861 ford gas engine has a mechanical temperature gauge. I have ordered new temp gauge part number c3nn18287A-blac twice now-wrong both times. These gauges come with a thermo coupling that has a much larger thread than my stock gauge that is mechanical and the inlet out of the block is directly behind the hydraulic pump. Is there an old style mechanical gauge I can order that has the correct threaded end or am I forced to use the thermocouple and try to find some where to install it.

There was an adapter on the factory gauge. Are you sure it's not still in your head?

All temp gauges for that model tractor supersede to 84194924

The water temperature guage attaches in the head, kinda under the rear
fuel tank mounting bolt.. Sounds like you might be dealing with the engine oil preasure guage line

Yeah, you are trying to put your temp sender into the hole where the fitting for your oil pressure gauge goes. I remember answering you on this same question a few weeks ago but I don't remember you coming back.

I just went and looked at my 861, the hole for the temp gauge is on the head a little above and behind # 4 plug. It looks to be a 5/8 Dia. Hole. I
believe I ordered mine from this site. It fit the first time. Make sure there is not a reducer in the factory hole.

And pray tell how this hateful comment helped anything? Seems like a classic log vs. speck case to me.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, you can go through modern view and view Jamison's posts and you will see that most are of this non-productive antagonistic manner. I see jeffkoh's post as right on the money, while Jammison's is not only useless, it is of a destructive nature.

o not just showcrop, but all of you.....when you were say 10-14 years old, would you have mistaken a line from the block to the oil pressure gauge as a connection point for the temperature sender??!!!

No.. but...

We have to remember, that not everyone is mechanically inclined.

Most of us know, looking for OP line, to hit the block, and for temp, to hit the head... some people just don't have that background.

Also.. some people may not see very well, or have limited range of movement so they can't get down and look under and may be relying on feel to try to follow a line from under the dash.

Not making an excuse for anyone.. just a possible explanation.

That's because this is my first ever post to this sight. Thanks for the help.
