Ford 3400 industrial gasser. Not running.
"Ran when parked" several years ago, grandson inherited it.
Nice young man, but he isn't a tractor guy.
He doesn't know if the motor is stuck or not.
It has a nice looking Ford loader on it. Power steering.
Good but mis-matched rear tires. One R4, one long bar/short bar.
Its in Michigan. Fords here are reasonable but not free.

300+/- for the loader+ 300-600 for the tires and if it
goes over a grand the motor better run , my opinion and
not a ford guru .My prices are what I have seen at
auctions lately in my area.

Hard to tell much from one photo.
Not a bad looking unit.
Late model judging from tin and no evidence of
Blue paint anywhere. No evidence of
cracks/repairs in the usual place on the lift
arms. At least not on this side.
Twin stick.
Might or might not have pto and 3 point.
I would be more confident it isnt stuck if it
has horizontal vs vertical exhaust.
Worth looking at for sure.
Not running though so if straight, 3 point, etc
maybe $1200- $1500. Running, it's a $4K tractor
here so some room for a profit or very handy
unit for home use. Good model loader - will
stand the tractor on it's nose.

running, no 3pt or pto, its 4k tractor down here. running with 3p and pto, its a 6 to 7k tractor pending on time of year, and condition.

Paid $6500 for a 3400 diesel tractor (1974) this summer here in south texas. Was hoping that I didn't get taken... You made me feel pretty good.

bought my '68 last December as a non-runner but free spinning motor. Traded a Fergie and $700 for it (putting me at $1500 into the tractor) then spent $1200 rebuilding the motor, seals, and a tire....

I'm at 2700 for a good runner..... but I'm still chasing gremlins in the hyd system.

So what's he looking to get out of it?

This spring it would have bought $7500 and sold in a week due to el nino. This fall would be a totally differnent story, but if we get rain, spring is coming.. Prices and demand will go right back up. If no rain... $6500 is a fair price. Good loader tractors are needed by all the cattle and horsemen down here and since this is NOT mid west farm country, the good tractors and NOT just laying around. I can sell ALL of the good loader tractors I can get my hands on.

"Ran when parked"

That is sales speak for "hasn't moved since it broke down where it sits."

Depending how badly you want it, of course, you can certainly talk it down. Mis-matched rears, possibly seized up, no maintenance if he isn't a "tractor guy". Have you looked at the fluids? How long has it been on the market?

Personally I'd have to have it carted to a shop to put it right, so my investment likely would be $2K or $3K to get it functioning; hoping it didn't have a fatal condition that's not obvious. I'd start at $1,500 and see where it goes. If you luck out and it doesn't need much - you win. If it needs major work - he wins. So the price is how comfortable you feel taking the risk.

I've been reading ytmag now for several years. I think that you refurbish MS Carbs for some folks as you have time. I have a 1956 640 and the carb could use some help. Would you be interested, how much? and if so your mailing address. Great site and advice.
