Unloader valve?

Today the 3 point wouln't lift. Fired it up (30*f last night & today) box scraper wouldn't leave the ground - ended up jacking it up with a floor jack and using limit chains to hold it up while I drove away from the barn. 10 minutes later the lift started to raise as I was enterinig the woods. Tried the bleed plug on the back of the piston pump and the 303 utf burbled sputtered and dripped. Fresh fluid (6.3 hrs on it since Summer)

Been reading posts and archived posts all day, re-read Ford manual (chapter 11) on the workings, troubleshooting, theory and repair of the Super Dexta3000 3 point system.

Saw some posts referring to a trick from a tractor mechanic about the unloader valve (poster said car mechanic friend needed this tip) I've been unable to find said post/tip despite several hours in front of the fire searching. Anyone care to share?

Could the unloader be sticking? Can I free it without removing the lift cover?

At that temp could be as simple as a little water in the system in just the right place and it took time to warm the oil up an have things work. My 841 has been like that for years unless I block the 3 point blade up when I park it when it is cold out

Unload valve is probably sticking. It is located under the seat and requires removing the lift-top from the tractor. Remove three bolts
from the front of the lift cylinder, extract the round plug and slide unload valve from bore. Remove o-ring from valve, reinstall without o-
ring to verify that it slides freely, then replace with new o-ring and that should make it work. If the oil is too thick you will have the
same symptoms because the thick oil makes the valve stick.
Another temporary fix is to turn the tractor off WHILE the lift is on it's way up but before it reaches the top of travel. That lets the
valve be in the lifting position when the tractor quits and will finish raising when you next crank it.

Suspect the inlet filter looks like those pics I've seen posted in my searches. With the fresh engine rebuild I found that the suction tube was pinholed and the leaking brake cross shaft seals were really that pipe. Welded it and the lift worked great with the new fluid - simple drain & replace, wasn't watery, didn't flush it.

I wanted to verify that the cover needed to come off (ala engine hoist as per Hobo - good writeup) to check that unloader valve. Didn't want to miss a trick of using compressed air through the takoff plate passages to free things up first.

Going to pull the flow control panel apart while I'm at it.

Thanks guys

(quoted from post at 09:16:53 11/23/15) I would figure out why the pump "burbled sputtered and dripped" before going any further.

Whut he said...

On my one venture into my 3000 I was lucky to have a loader that ran off the tractor hydraulics. The loader worked perfect when the 3 point would not raise cold that eliminated allot of guess work are diagnostics. I could not get the plug out of my pump so let that sleeping dog lie...

I don't know how to tell you how to diagnosis your issue I am sure someone here can with out a wild arse guess.
