blue head red block

Hey guys, new to this site. I have a 801 but the head is blue. My problem is the carb inlet is lower then the horizontal line on top of the starter therefore the pipe won't fit between the carb and filter can. Can anyone tell me if the heads off of a 4000 were physically thinner in height then the head that was supposed to be on this engine?

Not positive, but would think they'd be identical.

I would be more inclined to think wrong
carb or manifold more than head but hard to
say without seeing it

Did they have different heights of manifolds on different model tractors? I can only find 1 replacement manifold so I assumed that's all that was made.

slight differences in the original large and small manifolds, and the unit fit ones.

I swapped a manifold from a parts tractor onto my 950 for mowing and found the same issue.. a little more flexible hose fixed it. ( in my case...) I'd have to see a pic of yours to see what kind of clearance and geometry you are looking at.

also make sure the air cleaner is correct / mounted correctly.
