Dearborn front blade won't lift

So I'm getting ready for snow and just installed my snow plow setup on my 860.

Parts include:
New hydraulic valve for under seat with new rubber lines
"New to me" Dearborn plow setup- Unknown last time this was used.

Now I know my 860 has not had hydraulic issues before this- it can lift a brush hog without issue- so I assume it's got to be something I just added.

I bolted the frame on and tested my new valve. After getting the air out the frame with up and down seemingly fine. I declared victory and went out to grab the blade. Bolt it on and pull up on the handle- it only lifts 4-5" off the ground and I have to hold my valve open to keep it there. Release the handle to the neutral position and plow sinks down.

I see no signs of fluid leaks. My immediate thought is cylinder needs rebuild. Only other odd thing is when holding the valve open to keep plow up I heard a slight whine. Do I need more fluid? I did not add any when I bolted the frame on but it was full prior.

(quoted from post at 19:55:27 11/11/15) Was it full with all cylinders extended ?

Yes before I just bolted on the new cylinder for the front blade. Could that have caused the level to drop enough to not work?

We had one of those, plows. The factory cylinder was really not that big, I don't recall it being an issue, but maybe a new cylinder, lines, tractor was already low, fluid change needed, still some air?

You'll have to pardon my memory, even though I've run 2 of these with them, I forget how the underseat valve works at the moment, even on the later 3600 by now, but I thought once you set it you don't have to hold it, should stay up on its own until you move it. Our '64 4000 did lots of snow plowing, seemed to work fine on/off every year. Must be something simple if the tractor hydraulics are as you say, valve or cylinder like you have considered already. Double check tractor hydraulics, check with pressure gauge etc

this is my first experience with the underseat valve also, but I believe it should keep the plow up once released. That's what is making me think maybe I have a bad/leaking seal inside the cylinder. Without the weight of the plow, it cycled fine, but once it had some weight it was no good.

If the remote valve is indeed new, and not just "new to you", then hopefully it is not leaking internally, and it is most likely leaking past the piston seal inside the cylinder.
