Some Ford auction results today - Lansing, MI

I didn't get to go, only saw the results online.
Since I wasn't there to inspect I can only guess at why prices
were what they were. By comparison to these, an Allis Chalmers
G brought $6000.

FORD 4000 SU TRACTOR, 1973, 3 CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, NO REPORTED ISSUES
Sold for: $ 3,000.00

FORD 3600 TRACTOR, 1979, 3 CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE
Sold for: $ 3,400.00

FORD 3000 TRACTOR, 1973, 3 CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE
Sold for: $ 3,400.00

FORD 2600 TRACTOR, 1975, 3 CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE
Sold for: $ 4,400.00

FORD 2000 TRACTOR, 1966, 4000 MODEL DIESEL ENGINE INSTALLED IN 1988, 4 SPEED
Sold for: $ 3,800.00
 
Interesting that the 2xxx and 3xxx models went for more than the 4000 SU's. Maybe the SU's were dirty and ugly and needed a paint job and the weaker models were "pretty".

These two are the same year and are basically the same tractor, except the 4000 SU has 12 or so more HP and a much stronger double reduction rear axle and much better brakes:

So why does the 3000 sell for $400.00 more than the 4000SU?
 
Hard to say since I wasn't there Sean, but they all looked fairly
good from a distant photo. Most, if not all, had been repainted.
Some of them had the center of the steering wheel hub painted
like it had been done with a brush.

The "mutt" 2000 really kind of floored me at $3800.
Especially since it was the only one I saw with a 4 speed.
The rest were all twin sticks.

This is a picture of the 2000 dash/steering wheel.
This one may have been spray painted.
