leaking cutoff valve..

My old Jubilee has had the drips for a few weeks and my local parts man closed his store for good 2 weeks ago, he was about 85 years old and guess he needs a rest. So i ordered a new valve/sediment bowl from ebay and put that new piece of crap on this morning, you have to turn the knob with vise grips and it never would cut the fuel off so i left it as is and put a plastic shutoff valve inline close to the carb, going to put a brass ball valve inline later. I kept the old valve and bowl assembly and want to know if it is repairable, it was leaking gas through the stem of the handle, i'm thinking an o-ring is all thats needed..... got the new one on without removing the hood but got soaked in fuel screwing it in since it wouldnt shut off. Got to kiss up to the wife very soon, she thinks i give the old work horses too much attention...the 4th picture is the new valve on thr gray jubilee, it has a longer stem on it and was a pain to get on, pulled on bottom side of hood on every turn so that i could tighten the thing up as round knob almost prevented me from making each revolution..

I think you can just put in a new o-ring. Tighten the nut were the shaft comes out might stop it. I learned my lessen on those plastic shut off valve. Mine lasted till the third time I shut it. Norm
