640 restoration almost done

Couple pics of where I'm at with my 640. Officially started on it sept 13. It was a solid original tractor that looked basically untouched. Everything worked on it too.

Laid down the grey tonight:

Looking' good! I appreciate the authenticity. Not that I am a correct cop, but why take extra time and effort to do things incorrectly. Just put it together, shoot the red, then add wiring, control rods, sheet metal, and tires. I like it!

(quoted from post at 07:37:40 11/06/15) Very nice! You and DuFarmsabit both shame me with your work.
Well hang on there buddy. heck, i have no clue what i'm doing, and the paint is the easiest thing, even with a brush. I tend to destroy bodywork, having trouble with a broken easyout, and scratchin my head how to put the wires back on. I got new parts where i should have refurbished the old, and i could go on, not to mention, the camera i use is real forgiving. Mine is far from "restored" or correct, but, i'm having fun, and learning,, mostly what NOT to do. I'll probably be asking for help here shortly.

The new lug nuts give it the "fresh from the factory look"

OUTSTANDING!

Yes, somehow I can't imagine Henry paying his men to paint lug nuts when they come plated

Well officially done today. New rears showed up and so did the decals.

That's its unrestored brother in the background of the second pic. I bought the 640 and 860 from the same owner.

I'll snap some better pics this weekend hopefully when it's nicer outside

Looks great Joe!
I was going to ask about the other one.
Sheet metal looks like 851/861.

Yep it's a 1955 860 with all 861 sheet metal.

Story of the two tractors is the guy had the 640 for years and needed a slower first gear so he found and bought the 860. I purchased that one first and then went back and bought the 640 a month later because it was so original.

I bought them off the grandson of the owner. He had passed away and they were selling off some things

So we'll get to see pictures of that rebuild soon too? ;)
The 640 looks great. Its a lot of work, but very satisfying.
