After removing lift cover, draining old fluid and freeing up stuck touch control linkage ,and replacing "O" rings etc. I am now ready to reinstall lift cover . Question is --do I need to add or prime lift cover with hyd. fluid , or go ahead and just reinstall lift cover and add new fluid.? Thank You Jack

In theory you should not have to prime it but that does not always work. Me I would try it then see how it goes

No, you should not need to prime anything back
there. Though sometimes after draining the
fluid out you may need to prime the pump.
Did you renew the seals in the lift piston and
at least inspect - if not replace - the cam
follower pin While you had the lift cover off?
Myself, I would do those two cheap, simple
repairs while I was in there.

Thanks for your help----- The " Cam follower pin " seems to be ok.------- I would replace the piston seals but I don't have a piston ring compression tool. --and two auto parts stores near me don't carry them. --Pub FO 20 says to use it for installing seals. Is it possible to install these seals without the tool ? Thanks again Jack
