So had a guy call me wanting help getting his 861 to run. Found it had a few problems.
Had good blue/white spark that jumped a 1/4 inch or more.
Plugs where dry but had gas in carb but found that it was old and smelled bad. Then found very poor gas flow to carb. Tried my 1 qt lawn mower tank and it would smoke some and pop once in a while.
Since the guy got it non-running did not know who had done want. So checked where #1 piston was when the rotor was pointing to #1. Found piston was not at TDC when the rotor was pointing at #1. So I started moving plug wires around. Ended up with the #1 wire where the #2 would have been and so on. Fired up and ran well that way so now he has to pull the gas tank off and clean it out to get gas flow form the tank but at least he knows it will run

Nice troubleshooting! Nothing worse than buying a bunch of stuff only to find out that wasn't it.. it was something simple, or if not simple, just cheap. :)
