Ford 661 Workmaster project update

Hey y'all, just wanted to show some pics of my project. So far, so good, there's been a few surprises, mostly little stuff like the headlight glued in it's housing. There is a concern in that when i went to drain the rear end, there was some water in there. But i was told it sat for a long time and i'm hoping there was little use when it was like that. I've got a bunch of new parts along with a 12 volt conversion. She's gonna look pretty pulling my combine :)

I didn't realize there were 2 grays, one pre '65, and one after, since mine is a '59, i chose pre '65. :) I'm trying to add some
contrast with the different parts rather than just painting everything one color.

I got it at a local farm supply store that used to be called "Big R" the paint is Van sickle tractor and implement paint, it is a
glossy oil enamel. It looks good, but we'll see how many years it holds up. I did a JD disc 2 years ago, and still looks good so..

I'm sure the red will suffer fade first.

I used a Tisco grey. It's also an Enamel. Couple of years so far. It is stored under a shed, which has to help.

I would be curious how the Tisco and the Van Sickle compare.

I'm sorry but painted lugnuts make it look a french warehouse (sic).... No he-man tractor should have painted toenails...

Looks good, can't wait to see it when you're done with it!

Bean Medic, the Tisco paint is made by Van Sickle.
This is the Tisco gray on my Crispy Jubilee.

Looking good! Paint that starter before you finish up though, so that it looks like it is just from the factory like the rest of the tractor instead of just from the starter repair shop.

I used both, on the motor, spray, on the rest, brush. I was thinking about getting a spray gun, but then i'd have to learn how to use it, and tarp off things, so i just went with what i know. If i decide to keep doing stuff like this though, i will be upgrading my methods.

I don't know how many actual hours are on the tractor robilmichael.
But judging from the clutch pedal, I think its done a lot of work.

It seems I may have hijacked your post.
Sorry about that, it wasn't intentional.

There are actually more than two grays. 8-9N, up through XX0, are a darker gray, Then the XX1s are a gray with a kind of yellow-tan tint, Then you get into the very light almost white with the advent of the "World Tractors". At some point later on it got even lighter to essentially white.

Mine is definitely the darkest gray. I'm not sure if it's right, or if i like it. Most of the pics i've seen show a lighter shade.

Its your tractor, paint it any color you like! :)
The 9N/2N's were "battleship gray", not the same as the 8N's.
This color is sold at most farm stores as "Ferguson Gray".

They are...and were when I bought it. Old picture. I have since traded the tires/wheels with another and traded sides. Had forgotten about.
