Need help with hydraulics on a 5200 row crop

This single remote is on a '68 5200 row crop tractor. The steel line in the second pic has cracked about an eighth of a inch away from the base and about half way down on the arrow side.

If I remove the valve base and the plate it attaches to on the top plate to send to hydraulic shop, what are the chances the other three steel lines will survive for another ten years?

Should I have the steel lines changed to hoses?

Dual remotes would be better for me. What options should I consider for replacement instead of repair. I have been searching "remote hydraulics" on this site. Is there a better term to search for. Sorry for my ignorance but thanks for the help. A functioning tractor is more important to me than a correctly restored tractor.

Just had the same problem on my gas 5200. Spent over two months looking for replacement parts. Would have like to
have went to two spools, however that was worse than finding a needle in a hay stack. Good Luck. By the way there
were two different blocks used. One is thicker than the other. May be able to help you out if you need the thin one.

Thanks for the offer. I am considering having the ports tapped and hoses built. If that gets screwed up I may need that plate.

If you look behind the valve in the first picture you can see two more. There is a third line that is not seen in these pictures. The valve shown is under the seat (the seat has been removed in these pictures) and slightly behind the operator. All four steel lines travel forward and down under the platform to another plate located at the top rear of the hydraulic sump. Both ends of each pipe are weld/sweated.

I assume these lines are to a power beyond plate. I have been looking over old post trying to learn terminology so please forgive my ignorance.

I use the hydraulic with hay rakes, balers, and cutters. I don't have to chain down the three point arms to use the remote. I can run the 477 haybine with a single hose on either port.

Time for lots of reading. I'll post more pics when I get the platform off. Will be a few days, the neighbor is putting on a new roof and rain is coming in two days I hope.

Bern,
My 7200 had hard lines that ran back to the remote for the Load Monitor Cylinder.
My tractor had dual remotes plus that 3rd set for the load monitor.
Mine also developed a pin hole in the steel line that made me plug the lines. I remember using 9/16 bolts with O-Rings to plug off where banjo type connectors came out. Nothing like the lines shown here.

I've never seen a steel line setup like that before either. Regardless... I think if it's just a pinhole I'd probably just lay some brass over it and move on. Looks like a lot of work to do anything else.

Looks like this is where the normal hydraulics have been moved back to an more accessible location. The two steel pipes take the flow from a "power beyond" plate and move it to the rear of the seat. I have had 4200, 5200s and 7200s and this will be the first time I have seen this setup.

I have used air conditioning silver solder to successfully patch steel lines in the past. But not patch big holes, just solder cracks. Has work out well and can be redone at any time.

Would "silver solder" be stronger than brass brazing. If it can go a little longer I would have time to get a dual remote on it. I am not in my comfort zone changing to a new hydraulic system right now.

I was able to get the hydraulic leak fixed. Even though I don't know much about brazing I know enough not to post a photo of it. This is a photo of both blocks. Is this a power beyond circuit? What would be the most cost efficient method of getting two working remotes? Thanks for the help.

That pic explans' everything. they simply extended the hydraulic block to the rear with a very very very custom power beyond block... and I am using the power beyond block definition loosely. Its really more of a "FORD HYDRAULIC RELOCATION" setup.

However the end result is that you can now use any FORD single or dual remote block at the rear and even an aftermarket power beyond block under the existing remoTe. bad news.. is that the linkage to run the remote block was very specific to the rowcrop and you will need to find the add on linkage for the second remote FROM ANOTHER rowcrop donor. .... or install a power beyond block and just add on a univeral open center remote on the fender in addition to the factory remote already installed. The aftermarket power beyond block will fit between the "ford extension device" and your remove. you must take the hydraulic away but must return them to the block so the other hydraulics will work..... LOTS OF HYWAY tractors had a Cross or Prince dual spool hydraulic valve mounted on the fenders to run batwing shredders.

MILLION THANKS FOR THE PICTURE.

Thanks for the info. Haven't had time to check in here in a few days. Just got the last few square bales in the barn. Expecting rain tomorrow. Going to change a few bearings on the cutter while it rains and get ready for the next field.
