I have a 73 3000 with a front loader. Bought new tires and wheels for it as the old wheels were cracked and repaired several times by previous owners. I went with 3 rib 4 ply tires. While clearing some of my property with a brush hog on this tractor, i ran into some thorn bushes. Seems the thorns like to make holes in the tires and tubes. Looks like this could be a problem as this tractor is heavy on the front with the loader. What kind of tires do you think may be more thorn resistant ? I patched the tube and cleaned any thorns I could find from the tire, and am going to add some green slime to both front tubes to help but just wondering if a balloon type tire would be better. I have a 9N and have cleared this same property with it, thorns and all and never had a problem, but the 9N does not have a loader on it and is pretty light on the front. ( I would be using the 9N , but the PTO is not working and its on the list to be repaired).
