Ford 641 Trans oil seal sleeve - Can U help?

Anyone ever replaced the trans seal sleeves on the output shaft and counter shaft? Refer to I&T Manual FO-20, Figure FO148, parts # 17 and # 34.

Mine are SO deeply grooved and worn, new oil seals will be ruined in short order. Can I just "pull" these sleeves off the shafts from the back by some easy method? Or am I looking at tearing the trans apart and then using a hydraulic press to get the old sleeves off/new ones on? (I have the new sleeves) I've not found any advice on this on a forum. Anyone ever tackled this?

That are a lite press fit you should be able to devise away to remove them... Heat comes to mind.

If your replacement seals are not double lipped you will need to use two seals to replace the original thick double lipped seal...
The open part of the seal with the spring goes toward the oil, one to the trans and one to the hydraulic sump... You will be installing the face (flats) of both seals together...
