first of all I'm new here. I ve hit a roadblock putting my dads 800 ford engine back together.I was getting ready to reinstall the camshaft when I saw the middle cam journal had something in an oil port.I dug it out thinking it was dirt or grease from washing the block down.Turned out to be a rubber plug or cork.the middle journal has one extra oil port and this seems to be the odd port that was plugged.I cannot find any reference to this plug being there. My question is should it be there? if so could it be replaced with a rubber cork or large piece of o-ring.Or is it possibly gasket material from a previous repair? Thanks if anyone has any input .It will probably save the rebuild at this point.

A bit of a guess on my part, but is it the rubber grommet that seals the bottom of the tube that feeds oil to the rocker arm assembly?

hope this is the right place.I do not believe it is the grommet. this peace was solid rubber about 1/4 long by 1/4 inch round, and came out in three matching torn sections.the top was dimpled as if pushed in and appeared to not rub on the camshaft journal."It appeared installed".possibly someone's oil pressure booster fix?.I'm just worried if it was supposed to be there and I dont replace it I smoke my block. if its not supposed to be there and I do replace it I smoke my block. My only clue is It was in there and the block appears to be in great shape for how ever many thousands of hours and rebuilds on it.Its a 1957 ford 800 if that helps any thanks.

There are 3 cork/rubber seals held in with 3 metal press in plugs on the right side of the block spaced apart in a horizontal line about half
way up the block, it seals the oil passages.

Looks like Scott nailed it.
EAF-66025-A Plug (Seals camshaft bearing oil holes in block)
EAF-66045-A Seal (block camshaft tube hole)
Takes three each.
