whats something like this worth? I've contacted the owner by email, and he said make an offer. I'm not sure what value, if any, a front loader adds.

Assuming his ad is correct, and everything works except the trans, what should I offer?

machine looks well used based on his pics.

I have a number in mind, but would like to hear what you guys think.

I would offer $1000. You do not want to fix (unless of course the interlock to release final drive just came loose) it but switch over to standard tranny. . Quite a chore. 1st want to find a transmission.

I'd offer him $500 and see what he says. Once you make an offer you can always go up but almost never go down so start low and go up if need be. The loader could well be worth $500 or more depending on if it has 2 way cylinder on the lift and if it is not full of welds that would say it has been used hard.

Certainly not $2,000.

Insufficient information to be much more specific, but probably somewhere between $500 - $1,000.

Well I politely offered him $500 and he replied that he would take it "if I keep the bucket". I assume he means the entire front loader not just the bucket.

I know the pics are awful but any idea what kind of front loader that is? I'm thinking of offering $700 to leave it on

Take it up say $100 at a time till he says ok or ask him to counter so you know where he is. Been hours since I saw the pictures so hard ot say. Things like is it a crank shaft drive type pump will help you know how much plus since he says it runs that means the loader should work so that is something you want to see work

I sent an email asking what he wanted to leave the loader on instead of making another offer.

I'm already planning ahead for this tractor. think I would rip the P/S and loader off for our 860. I don't mind the 860 without p/s but my dad said he wishes it had it.
either attempt to repair the current SOS or swap my spare in. then sell off the now working tractor.

Looks like a good tire. Worth something for that. Loader looks like the ones I'm used to seeing on Massey Fergusons. Strong and tough. Tractor might be worth more if you don't have to haul it very far. I bought a non-runner with no tires and no loader for $500. I figured the Sherman was worth that. At least I didn't have to pay disposal fee on rotten tires. Only hauled it 20 miles. If I put it up for sale, I won't get back what I've done to it since. It's a hobby for me.

just got a reply from the guy. he literally just wants the bucket off the loader.

frame stays with the tractor for $500. seems like I should be able to find a bucket fairly cheap somewhere ?

How much more does he want for it with the bucket on the loader? Another $200.00 or $300.00 would be worth it to me rather than having to hunt one up, and probably not being able to find the exact right one, so then you would have to fab and weld on new tabs for the proper connection points to the tractor... now that I think about it, probably worth at least $500.00 extra to me for that headache, especially since the incorrect bucket is probably going to cost a couple hundred to begin with.

"think I would rip the P/S and loader off for our 860"

It looks to me like it already has power steering.
I'd probably gamble on it if it were close.
I would make sure the hydros really do work though.

On second thought, at $500, after checking the hydros and PS
I'd agree to buy it and then haggle over the bucket.
