Does Ford offer a free replacement gas cap for the 601 tractors? Someone told me they do becuase of a lawsuit kind of like Case/IH does. Apparently they'll send you a vented one. The one I need is part number NAA-9030-D.

I bought a "universal" cap at the local Ag Supply store and now my tractor wants to "run out of gas" about every 30 seconds until I pull the choke for a couple seconds to revive it. I cleaned the carb, but thinking it might have the wrong cap
 
I checked with several Ford tractor dealers late last year. The dealer that seemed to have it together told me that program had ended.

Not only that, but the gas cap I was looking to get Ford wanted to charge me $80 for it. Needless to say I walked.
 
I just took a small (1/16th inch, maybe?) bit and drilled a hole in the center of the cap. BOOM--instant free vent, without having to deal with CNH.
 

I could do that but I would like it to actually match the decal that is just above it blatantly saying that the only cap to be used must be the NAA-6090-D Cap.

Everybody says Case/IH (CNH) has stopped the program for the IH Farmall caps, but it is still going strong.

I wonder if they still offer it? I wouldn't listen to the dealers because they want to sell you one. Case IH uses a website to submit for it. How did/does Ford Nee Holland handle it.
 
The gas cap exchange program is still alive. I exchanged the caps on my 8N and Jubilee about two years ago at the New Holland dealer in Ft.
Collins, CO. Contact your local dealer service department. Ask them to reference Service Bulletin 1993-10-T2. You will need the tractor
model, serial number and your old gas cap. You may have to contact more than one dealer, as some don't want to be bothered. Good luck.
