Used the advise from you guys and ran #1 alternator wire to cool side of junction box and #2 wire to alternator stud. This results in no charging and 12V on meter. Swapping wires resulted in 14.5V on meter. My old Delco does not have terminals marked #1 & #2 but R & F. With field wire going to junction box and R wire going to alternator I get the 14.5V mentioned but get battery discharge overnight. Could it be that my Delco is older than models having terminals numbered? Sorry for my electrical ignorance. I really appreciate your knowledge.
