ford 3000 pto hard to engage

Ford 3000 serial# c319590 has the two stage clutch. Pto grinds when engaging when attachments are hooked up to it. Engages most of the time when nothing is hooked to it. How can I adjust the for pedal and or pto clutch? Also what is the single pedal on the right side? The pedal goes to the middle of the axle. .
 
The pedal on rite is for diff lock,locks both wheels so pulls evenly. Only need when think going to get stuck. If free travel on pedal is rite the only fix is to split and adjust the links on pressure plate.
 
Rarely, pto stage is stuck, more common is the clutch is worn past it's mechanical travel limits, not letting pto stage clutch.

if i was splitting one, and the clutch was worn enough to try to adjust it internally.. I'd be putting a new clutch in.... IMHO..
 

Is the clutch pedal set to the higher hole so it disengages the pto clutch> or is it set to the lower more comfortable plowing setting? see the two holes on the clutch lever on side of transmission. Should be set to the pedal is in the high position.

That two hole clutch clevis was used only
on the early models. I think it was
eliminated at the same time they went to
the external return spring - maybe 1967 or
68. I'm sure it was gone by 1971 which his
serial # corresponds to.

The 3600 i had was doing the same thing -
would grind when engaging.
I adjusted it so it stopped grinding and
the pto clutch wold slip under a load.
So I adjusted it the other way so the
clutch held and shut off the engine to
engage the pto. It lasted for a while and
the pto clutch gave out completely.
I think there is a split in your future.
3600 double clutch is the same as your
3000.
 
Thanks.. I keep forgetting the newer models changed. All of the 3000's I get are of the old version. I knew 3600's were different, but have not seen a 3000 with the newer setup. Guess I will some day.
