Ford 134 manifold

Just pulled my manifold off my 134 and I noticed two of the bolt holes have slices in them. It's the holes between the intake and exhaust manifold section, so #2 and #5.

It's definitely a cut and not a crack. Is it supposed to be there? All the pics online the manifolds look solid

Normal for an original manifold.

My manifold is very pitted and I plan to replace the entire exhaust this Winter. I must have an original manifold on my 640 because I have those two cracks as well. I'm sort of surprised they are not in the aftermarket manifolds as I'd think a chunck of metal that big could benefit from some stress relief given the temperature range it has to function in.

got a bench mounted belt sander? that cast iron is pretty soft.. you can 'lap' that manifold surface pretty easily with a belt sander.
