Still having hydraulic lift issues on my 850

The 3 point still is not holding it
drifts down, I put in a new cylinder
seal kit and that did fix the leak at
the piston but it still goes down and
when I try using the auger it will not
pull it out of the hole only after
going a little over a foot into the
ground any suggestions, I'm leaning
towards rebuilding the pump

Buy a pressure gauge and put it in the test port that way you know if the pump is the problem or if you have a leak some place else and a relief valve problem or a control valve problem. Better the trouble shoot then part then to throw parts at it and still not fix it

Is this the plug on top of the plate and a curiosity question the book calls that an accessory plug can I put a port on this to run Hydraulic driven items such as a splitter and what should the pressure be.

If the pump is lifting and the system drifts down after it lifts and the handle has not moved, then the pump is not to blame for that. Once it stops lifting and the handle remains in the same position, the pump is not part of the circuit that maintains the height, until it drifts down enough for the control linkage to sense the drift down and then it should correct itself, which most folks refer to as a "hiccup". If it doesn't hiccup and still drifts down then I would suspect the internal control linkage is worn or out of adjustment, and/or the cam and cam follower pin is plumb wore out.

Not being able to lift a post hole auger out after digging for a foot might be normal if the soil is hard clay.

Need more exact description of the problems...

Is it hiccuping at all when it drifts down after lifting while the tractor is running? Or does it only drift down after you shut the tractor off? Or does it drift down while running without hiccupping?

How hard is the soil that you are trying to use the auger in? Will it lift the auger out after 6 inches, but not a foot, etc....

That is the test port. Yes if you chain the 3 point arms down you can make a cylinder work but it is slow and you loose the 3 point

Plus it can only power a cylinder in one direction, power up and gravity down, so not much help for a log splitter. You can get remote valves that replace the small plate where the test port is that will give you power in both directions (for dual acting cylinders) like what you would need for a log splitter, but the flow rate for the 3 point hydraulic pump is pretty low and you might not be happy with the cycle times of the splitter. The pump would provide more than enough pressure to split wood but it would just do it slowly.

in addition to what has been said:

1, if it drifts down, and doesn't correct or correct enough and the 3pt handle hasn't moved.. you probably have a worn cam pin and out of adjustment linkage.

2, if it lifts ok normally, pump is pumping, some at least. pressure test as said will tell you how healthy the pump, orings and relief are.

3, if you will notice, your auger and 3pt lift geometry tends to make a slight arc instead of a straight line down, lifted to dropped. this means that if you let the auger cut a foot and then try to lift.. you may be tring to lift the auger thru dirt .. it's always best to lift an auger every FEW INCHES of cut and clean the hole out.. this prevents screw in and hard pulls.

Thanks old, I'll do that it'll be a couple of days late Saturday or even Sunday have a lot of stuff going on the next few days with the family, I'm also going to check a couple of other things out like how it drops, etc.. it was going down then jerking back up before I put in the seal kit but it doesn't seem to be doing that it seems to be going down to a point then staying, and the control lever is acting different also, I didn't adjust the turn buckle linkage inside nor did I change anything else inside at least not knowingly, it has a new cam follower and I looked at it while I had it apart and it showed no wear, also just a note when I try to lift the auger out of the ground it would actually lift the front up about an inch or so off the ground.

If trying to lift the auger out of the ground causes the front wheels to come off the ground then your pump is plenty strong.
