Hi Folks a local auction has this tractor it's diesel runs well. no idea what year. has 3pt and locking dif .. that's all I know. what do I need to know to work out a price. body is straight but there's a lot of surface rust. tires are ok

price/value really depends on what part of the country you're in and how badly you want it. Around here (southeastern PA) it would probably sell quickly on craigslist for $4500.00 or so, and sit for a while at $6000.00 until a buyer came along who either "had to have it" or didn't know any better, and any price in between $4500.00 and $6000.00 would dictate how long it took to sell.

At an auction it really depends on who else is there bidding against you. Anything under $4500.00 would probably be reasonable, once it got above $5000.00 I would probably let it go unless I really really wanted it for some reason or another.

If it has a single gear shifter on the transmission, then it's a 4 speed and would have non-live PTO, and it would be worth less than one with a twin stick, which would be either the 6 or 8 speed and might or might not have live PTO. If you can find the model number stamped into the bell housing or on the foil sticker under the hood, the second to last character would be a 3 for live PTO and a 2 for non-live PTO.

As Sean said, it does depend on what part
of the country you're in.
I would suggest you do a bit of homework
and go to searchtempest.com.
Figure out the settings like zip code, farm
& garden, distance you want to search, etc
and then search for Ford 3000.
It's not hard to do and will give you an
idea what other 3000s are going for in your
area.
It is hard to give a price with so little
info to go on. Got any photos of it or a
link? A trip loader run off the onboard
hydraulics wont add as much as a full
hydraulic loader with front pump will, nor
will a straight up 4 speed be as good as
the 8 sp with LPTO. Power steering adds
value too.
They are outstanding small tractors - not
hard to work on, good parts availability,
and Very reliable.
Never trust the hours on the tach on one.
They failed early and often.
