I just got this 901 SOS diesel this past week end. It shifts through all the gears. When cold in rev 1 when you release the inching petal it will move and stop, push the inching petal down and release it again, and it is ready to go. I have bush hog about one acre and it works good. It has a drip leak on both sides of the bell housen at the bottom hole. There are three bolt holes on both sides of the bell housen. It leak out of the bottom one. Just a drip every now and then. I have a picture, but do not know how to post it. My serial number is higher than in the book. It is 161570 the top number is 971-5-D. Is there a seal in front of the pump on the input shaft ?

Check to make sure the drain hole in the bottom of the bell housing is not plugged up, it should have a cotter pin that is loose so it wiggles around to keep the hole open in it. Sounds like that may be plugged and either the rear main seal on the motor is leaking or the front seal of the tranny is leaking and it may be filling up your bell housing. If it gets to high it could ruin your torque limiting clutch for the SOS. Just my 2 cents Greg NE
