Wet sleeve question.

Not Ford but tractor related. Working on a 3414
international that was stuck. I removed head after
soaking and trying several months. I was able to get
unstuck but trying to find out if I need to replace the
wet sleeve seals before going back together. I saw
a small amount of sleeve movement while I was
tapping on Pistons. I am not familiar with wet
sleeves and they scare me a bit. Don't want to go
in twice but don't want to mess with someone just
for fun. Thanks.

First off what did you use to soak it with to free it up??? Did you make sure the cylinders had zero water in them??? etc.
As for the sleeves yes you will want to pull them out clean the area where the sleeve seal sits real good put in new seals and use dish soap as a lube to put the sleeves back in. I have done a good many be they A/C or Farmall and so far had not problems with any of them

Do not take a chance that the sleeves might leak. Replace the seals while the engine is apart.

Look carefully for signs of electrolysis on the inside wall of the sleeves. Tiny pinholes mean coolant in crankcase soon. On wet sleeved engines you want to be real particular about your coolant.
Before going back together, sand the block where the O rings land so the rings can roll in easy. There is a machined ramp to compress the rings as they go in.
