Ford 641 Hydraulic Lift Not Working After Split

Hey guys. I got my 641 back together after a new clutch install and started her up after 4 years and she is running just like she used to. .....really good. Only problem is that the Hyd. Lift isn't working at all. I put new fluid in to the bottom fill line on the dipstick (back 3 pt. arms are down and have been) since the other fluid drained out during the split. Started her up with the filler plug off to let trapped air out. I get no response when moving the up/down lever. Is there a way to bleed air or prime the Hyd pump on the motor or do yall think it is something else.?? I know with the farmalls, you just let it run while you cycle up and down with filler plug off til the trapped air escapes. Please help. I hope I don't have bigger issues

To bleed the air out of the system, you need to crack the plug on the hydraulic pump itself, not the fill plug. There is a plug on the top of the
hydraulic pump that you need to loosen. Have the tractor running at a slow idle to reduce the amount of potential mess, and do not remove
the plug, just loosen it. You will see oil with many air bubbles in it. Let it flow until it is oil seeping without bubbles, then tighten the plug and
try the three point. It may be a little jerky until you cycle it up and down a few times.

Thanks for the help Mitch!! I did see a hex key plug on top of the pump. Will try that in the morning and post back here.

I'm with mitchford, you need to bleed the pump.

Another way you can try is to park the tractor nose down in a ditch and let it run for a while. You need to get the pump below the oil in sump. Sometimes that will get the pump primed.

If you are still having problem getting the pump primed post back and I'll give another suggestion.

Just wanted to let yall know, I got it working great and all it needed was the plug cracked at the pump. THanks
