640 Water Pump

Went out to Bush Hog tonight and the 4 blade fan threw a blade which took out the water pump front seal. I'll load a picture in the morning. In the meantime, the setup on my 640 matches the appearance of pump cdpn-8501-b and the 4 blade fan looks just like 9N-8600-a. Looks like I must have a 1954 model 640.

Are you sure the pump isn't bad? Was the fan cracked for some reason? You are lucky you didn't take out the radiator. Been there, done that and bought the t-shirt! Of course, that was on my '68 Firebird, not my '62 641. I am not sure what you are asking, but I will look at my fan tomorrow.

I was questioning the pump and fan that I have. If I use the parts book and look at pictures the fan and pump say 9n, NAA and Jubilee. If I look up a water pump for the model 640 what comes up looks nothing like what I have. It appears the 55-57 640 uses a different fan and pump. I happened to look at the fan the other day and noted how corroded the blades looked but didn't consider it was enough that I might have a blade separate.

I am satisfied that I ordered the correct pieces and can't wait to get them on. I ordered everything from this website. New water pump and 4 blade fan are needed. I also ordered thermostat since I don't know the history of the old one, new hoses because they are soft top and bottom and new original style hose clamps to freshen them up.

As long as I was ordering stuff so the shipping fee was covered, I took the opportunity to order the correct hydraulic lift stop hardware to replace the cheesy machine screw and nut someone had stuck in the track as a stop. I also ordered the original style headlight switch since the guy who partially restored or repaired this tractor before I bought it didn't reinstall a switch or hook up the lights.
