Hey guys, Ive got a 3600 that doesnt seem to be charging however the alternator (motorola) is new and was working a couple weeks ago. The battery is also fairly new and load tests well. So I replaced the regulator thinking that was the only other part.. however the warning light DOES come on during startup but goes out immediately.

The only other thing I know to do is take the gauge pack out and look at the wiring but when I had it out last it looked good.

Is there something Im missing?

What is your indication that, "it doesn't seem to be charging"? Measure battery (post to post) voltage stopped & also when running at speed. Should see couple volts difference if charging.

With the engine running, use a meter to compare voltage at the battery positive post versus the alternator output post (large terminal). If they are not the same (or nearly the same), then you have an open circuit between the alternator and the battery. Check connections at the starter post, that could be where the problem is.

If you load tested the battery, then maybe you have the inexpensive meter with the wire element inside that heats when it draws current, H-F has them for under $30, really handy/simple tool. With the tractor running, see what the meter reads, should be 13.5-14 or so, and these will have it marked on the scale, low charge etc. Simple test with the alternator on the tractor if nothing else applies that would create a draw and show its not charging.
