looking at an engine only. it say EAF6015 which should make it a 55-57 172 cu in. or there any other casting marking that may help identify the exact year and where they would be. there is a 5 directly above the
EAF6015. on the opposite side there is a 2 88 upside down. any ideas? thanks

as u sit on the tractor, just in front your clutch foot is a flat spot on back of engine (waist high) Stamped are numbers
I have a 1955 960 so it reads

Third number
**0 - Hundred series, '55 - '57

Hundred Series tractor serial numbers -
1954 Serial number 1 - 10614
1955 Serial number 10615 - 77270 **my number was 42410, so it is a 1955
1956 Serial number 77271 - 116367
1957 Serial number 116368 - up

n0 transmission just the engine hence no serial # or model. I know on early NAA that had a serial # on toa flat by the generator and I know some casting numbers can give clues to manufacture date
