May be getting a new radiator for my 4000 4cyl. Are the ones from this sites parts supplier as good as any? Any reason not to use them? Also they say there are two versions: 3 rows or 4 rows of tubes. Does it matter which one should be used?
Thanks, Mark

Who knows?

Regarding cores: A three row core should be fine for a show tractor but I would certainly not reduce cooling capacity for a worker.

Just called the local parts place and got a price on the radiator(224.00). Iasked if they had all the possible related items such as hoses, thermostats, etc. They said they don't recommend using thermostats due to overheating and cracked heads. What do you all think of that...... legit, or b.s.?

run, don't walk, away from that seller.

Their robust ignorance on this issue casts into doubt anything they may sell or tell you!

USE a thermostat.

the tractor left the factory with a thermostat!

pretty funny
They haven't even sold it to you yet and they are already making excuses for its failure?

ah the 3 or 4 row question
not a tractor...but related.
me...cheap to the point of dumb.
had a big block muscle car...3 row in it when I got it.
Tried every trick known to man to keep that puppy cool.
finally just bought a 4 row...end of battle

Sounds pretty convincing for the 4-row.
Just curious, do you know what the tractors were equipped with from the factory?

If the tanks are good on it I'd just take it to your trusted local rad shop and have them recore it with a 4 row or as much as they can fit on the tanks. Cheaping out on a rad is false economy.... AND USE A THERMOSTAT, preferably on the higher end of the range. I think a 180-188 would be fine on that beast.
