radiator leak

Discovered I have a small leak in the radiator on my 4000(4cyl). Are they usually worth repairing or would you get a new one for a little over $200. How about stop leak, is it worth messing with? I assume the hood will have to come off to replace it.
Any other advice is welcome. Leak is about 2-3 ins. from the bottom btw.
Thanks, Mark

I have use bars seal copper more then one time and had it work as long as the hole is not real big. Put that in my 1965 Ford 1 ton some 4 plus years ago and still holding just fine

Depends on how good the rest of the radiator is. Thousands of leaks have been repaired. Sometimes your old radiator is better than what you can replace it with. Impossible to say without inspection. Either way you might have to remove the radiator. I feel stop leak is a temporary patch job, it can work depending on the leak. Id fix it right by first trying to patch it.

Ok, thanks guys, maybe try the stop leak first. Does the hood have to come off to remove the radiator if I end up having to take it out?

(quoted from post at 10:40:59 08/17/15) Why do you say this, does it mess up the function of the gauge sometimes?

I think he means that stop leak can stop the flow of coolant where you might not want it stopped, and so the engine could overheat, so make sure that your temperature gauge works properly so you will be warned if it does overheat from the stop leak.
