Update on main fuel nozzle 801 gas

Thanks to all responders who helped me trouble shoot this. This is a picture of the nozzle that came in the Tisco rebuild kit. Appears that it didn't get drilled through like it should have been. The only fuel getting to the carb was the 1st set of holes that feeds the idle jet. The passage is blocked from that point. The point of this post (beside gratitude for you guys) is to never take anything for granted. Not all parts are created equal. Also does anyone have a clue what the jet diameter should be? i'll drill it if it's large enough. If not, i'll buy another.

Been a while since I have had one of those out but if I remember right it would be pretty small say maybe a 1/32 or so. I could maybe go out in my junk fridge where I keep carbs and look at one and then give you a guesstimate

That would be great old. If you have one I would sure pay you for it. The one that was in the carb stripped and I had to drill out. The tractor was sitting in a field for twenty years and the carb was full of %(@*#% when I took it apart. And the one in the new kit is the one in photo.

What is the carb number?? I may have one form one I have one in the shop. I seem to never throw any thing away LOL. By the way my e-mail is open I prefer to talk parts that way so as not to step on the feet of Y-T.

Mystery solved. This picture clearly shows what you guys have been telling me (and I suspected) the nozzle should have unobstructed fuel flow.

our carb & engine are both larger than an 8N and the 8N main jet is 0.043 inch, so you are looking at something larger than that (I might WAG 0.060-0.070). As for flow, the main jet is in series with the power adjust needle on bottom of bowl, so you can limit flow with the adjustment to a flow less than the main jet will flow, but can't increase it above main jet flow.

It seems like TISCO parts are getting worse. I have been a dealer for about 6 years and they were pretty good when I first got them, now they seem like the quality is going down hill fast. When you call the headquarters now the recording says TISCO is now a part of Blount International. I think when that started is when the quality dropped. Its sad how bad some parts are getting. Had a problem with a couple voltage regulators and the tech guy was honest and said their electrical parts are pretty much a 50/50 chance if they are good or not. At least he was honest!!! My Dad said TISCO had great parts when he worked at the Ford dealership in the 70's and 80's, that's why I wanted to sign up to be a dealer.

So it would make sense to drill opening too large rather than too small because I can limit the fuel entering but not increase......or just quit being a tightwad and buy
a new one. But durn their expensive and i'll have to wait another week!

s far as upper end of nozzle (beyond the integral jet in the bottom), I say yes, BUT if I were to drill from the bottom (integral jet end), I would drill as close to that jet size as possible.
