update on 621

Hi all. I went threw everything on what i was missing on this 621 ford tractor. Changed carbs/ wires put anoyher set of manifold gasket thinking it was sucking air in the intake. granted i had a good running tractor to swap parts and all did the same thing. Till i took out the new points i put in and put the old one back in and it ran fine after that. It can happen got a set of bad points from tsc. Thanks again every one for your advice.

I made the mistake of getting a cheap tune up kit for an 850, most of it was literally junk. Maybe the spark plug wires were ok, they might even still be on there, can't recall now. They were kind of stiff as I remember. I have installed spare ignition parts previously taken off that worked better than new like that came in this kit. The price draws you in, then you find its junk, and its hard to figure the rationale of a manufacturer putting something like that out there, for what, just to get your money one time? You won't get it a second time. Echlin ignition parts for these tractors, from Napa is a proven performer, its the only brand of ignition parts I'll use on these tractors. The worst that happens is if it sits for months, you'll need to gently clean the contacts.

Tsc = tractor supply

Tractor supply sells cheap junky TISCO points!
So of course you got bad points if you got them from tsc, they only sell bad points!

Yep TSC means parts from the land of almost never right so what else do you expect to happen??

A couple of years ago I got points and condenser From the green and yellow people for a customers tractor. When I installed the points less than half of the point contacts touched each other. I got the tractor running and it wouldn't speed up. It would idle but that was it. i went through the carburetor twice and then switched carb's and it still wouldn't run. Just on a hunch I through in a used condenser and it ran like a top. Three weeks of trial and error to find out the new ignition parts from mother deere were no better than TSC. China junk is China junk no matter what package it comes in. I went to my auto parts supplier and got a set of standard ignition points and condenser after returning the junk to Deere.
