1871 4x4 on CL

Not mine, etc.

Poster says it is missing 4x4 driveshaft and transfer box, plus has jerry rigged steering. Does have most of a set of pie weights. Located near Mackinaw Bridge in Northern Michigan
1871 4x4?

I can't get over the select-o-speed shift assembly being mounted onto the top of the transmission, how is that even possible, delete the cable and some mechanical means to operate it through the top cover? Never heard of it, basket case this tractor, all started from that industrial type power steering specific to these going bad it seems.

You might be able to find something eventually, I saw a complete elenco ford tractor in an ad for tractor parts, some small salvage outfit, and it seemed as if they did not know what they had, it was a fence row tractor in some vegetation.

40405D is actually a 1961-1962 4000 Heavy Industrial with an S-O-S and single speed 540 RPM PTO, not an 1871, but it is just a later version of the same thing.
