oil gauge reading

I removed a leaking fitting on a 860 ford tractor, due to the fitting being cracked to replace it, and noticed the gauge is still
showing 60 lbs of pressure while disconnected. Can anyone explain this for me?
Thanks for your reply.

it is possible that the tube is plugged. Disconnect it at the back of the gauge and see if it goes down, you have to take the tube off the gauge to put a new one on anyway.

If you mean-'it was not doing that before I removed the fitting''- maybe the internals got damaged when you backed out that fitting.

Not much there for internals. Just a pipe thread going into a pipe thread.

Thanks guys, I will be getting a new gauge and go from there. The fitting was cracked and oil was running down the oil tube when engine was running, and that fitting was like looking for hens teeth.
