Ford 641 Clutch Replaced - Whats all that Fluid???

Hey guys.....the clutch is coming in (YT sent the wrong disk) today hopefully and I'll be putting the old 641 back together this weekend. I wanted to ask to see what was all of that fluid that poured out of her when I split it? It came from the 2 tubes at the bottom of the case. It looks like there are 2 o-rings there to keep it from leaking when together. Is that hydraulic fluid?? If so, should I replace those o-rings with some new ones from my Harbor Freight O-ring Kit?

Also, are there any tricks in getting the tractor back together that I should know? We split it using 2 sets of chain falls on a mono-rail.

THANKS

Yes new o-rings should be put in so as to maybe stop or slow a leak. As for putting it back together on a lot of tractor I make a set of guide bolts. I take a long bolt and cut the head off so things line up good and that makes it easy on a guy. I use 3 or more when I can

It's hydraulic fluid, the lines are from your pump to the rear reservoir.
.
Don't take a chance on HF "O" rings, find some other source like a dealer or auto parts store.

Using guide bolts really make it easier. Did you have an alignment tool to line up the clutch disc and pilot bearing?

I also have a Viton o-ring set that was bought from McMaster-Carr if those would be ok.

Yes, they are supposed to be sending a new line-up tool along with the new clutch disk.

If that is hydraulic fluid then where do I re-fill it? I really don't know much about these Fords. Is it the cap under the seat? Also how will I know when it is full?

THANKS

You have a cap to fill the transmission by the shifter and then one sort of under the seat which is the hyd fluid and then one back for the rear end.

Ok. so the one under the seat is for the hydraulic fluid, which is what came out from the middle of the tractor? I'm just confused as to why the hydraulics fluid was up there (I thought the pump was in the rear case).

Is there a way to tell if the hydraulic system is full? Fill level plug? Fill it to the top like a Farmall Super A?

(quoted from post at 02:44:55 08/01/15) There is a small dipstick on the left side under the seat.
Check level with 3 point raised.

I gotcha. Thank you! Not gonna be around the tractor until I drive up there in the morning so It was hard for me to look myself.

Would anyone happen to know the correct size of the o-rings that fit at the hyd. lines where the tractor splits in half?

I've got a 650. The pump is on the side of the engine. The two tubes are probably (I've never taken mine apart, although I need to - it doesn't work) the supply and pressure line. The compartment under the seat between the transmission and the rear end is the reservoir. Fluid is drawn through one line to the pump and delivered through the other, under pressure, to the hydraulic system.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering what that was on the side of the engine and thought it had to do with hydraulics but when I saw the tachometer drive mounted to it, it confused me.

Would anyone happen to know the size of those (2) o-rings ? I'm not able to pull up the online parts manual here at work and would like to buy some today.
