I have a rear wheel from a 901 ford that I trying to save, the inside of the rim is very pitted. I thought about coating the inside with bed liner, but I'm, wondering if the texture would be to rough for the tube.
Would this work? Or does anyone have any other ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Josh

I use bed liner spray on all rims I repair and it works good and I have yet o have any problems with it

Parts house or Wal Mart sells a spray can that's Rubber Undercoating that works real good. It's not as hard as spray bed liner and cheaper. Don't remember Brand.

If you use the spray undercoating I would dust it good with body powder to keep the tube from sticking

All the bed liner spray I have used was as easy to use an spray paint was and never had any problem with it and have done probably 50 or so rim using it

sure, that liner stuff will be fine....just paint is fine too.
pits don't affect anything as long as everything is smooth with no sharp 'ups'
It you have tough hands, use the back of your hand or wrist to slide around the rim when finished, looking for sharp spots.

good tubes are tough critters.
Trying to pull a heavily rusted in tube off a rim......

be sure to get it smoothed up well with a flapp wheel in your grinder. Whatever coating you use be sure you don't apply it over any rust, otherwise it is only eyewash and the rust will continue to eat at your rim.

I just picked up a set of hat rims & was thinking about doing this. It may seem obvious, but do you mask the outer rim where the tire seats before spraying or is it not a problem?
Thanks!

Now that right there is some advice we can use everyday. Providing we have callus on the back of our hand and wrist?

Nope no need to mask any thing it is not thick enough to cause any problems. Be sure o let ti dry good before mounting tire and tube

I think that he meant that if the fronts of your hands are calloused enough that they might not notice small bumps or burrs, then use the back of your hands or your wrists... in other words use some part of your body that will be sensitive enough to notice any small bumps or burrs.
