TSC majic paint for 601

Anybody use the majic paint at tractor supply for 601/801 series? If so how do you like it and which one was closer to the orange/red. Was is ford red or new holland red.

Kirk

I have been using the ford red/safety red on my tractors. I like the color. I posted the pic of my 871 recently, the red is TSC red

Kirk, I would be really concerned about it fading. I spent the long dollar for good paint for my 901, and jus the little places where I touched up after with the same paint without hardener got pretty dull in two years.

Thanks for you input. They are working tractors just trying to keep the rust at bay but on the other hand would like
them to look decent.

Kirk

Joe,
I looked up your 871 and it looks real good. I didn't see the ford safety red. The TSC I shop at just had majic paint #B2956 ford new holland red or #B2954 ford red

I am pretty sure its B2954, but I will double check tonight if I remember.

tried a gallon of the green when it was on sale recently.
nice color, applies nice
a few dislikes.......
-very, very slow drying...will thumbprint days and days later.
-It doesn't like any other brand of paint even close by..it will lift/wrinkle immediately. even weeks later
-weak 'teeth'
had a lifting area with it, from another paint job overspray in the air deal...see above
ok, had to re-do. putty knife removed all the 2 week old paint without strippers or solvents...weak

would I use it again, sure, if it's cheap
but I would only use [i:449916b95a]just[/i:449916b95a] that brand on every single part of the tractor......forever...including touch-ups.
And next one, I'll park it in the sun for a month before I use it.

you need to add a little hardener to it. I agree with you it is SLOW to dry, but with hardener it is much faster. Also for some reason the ford red seems to respond really well with hardener as far as shininess goes too.

I painted my Jube with it this spring Kirk.
I also painted this Farmall with their Farmall red.
I painted the Farmall Wednesday night, put the decals on
Thursday morning, took it to a show Thursday evening.
Friday the kids were climbing all over both of them. No issues.
But, I used their brand of reducer and their brand of hardener.
Maybe that was the difference in my experience compared to
NNP, I don't know. What I do know is the reducer and hardener
costs as much or more than a gallon of their paint.

nice tractors Royce!
Kirk, sorry, I should have noted that I don't use hardener.
(I do always use the brand reducer/thinner that the paint is)
My mask discipline hasn't been the best over the years, now that I'm old, I try to skip the more dangerous type fumes...too little, too late probably!
Like said, I will use that paint again, ya just can't beat the price. I'll just make a note of it in my maintenance logs, so I remember which tractor has which paint.

Thanks NNP, they're the prettiest of the herd here.
You're right on with the mask advice, that stuff is nasty.

The Jube was the Ford red, not NH red.

Lookin good Royse. I appreciate especially that you don't have a lot of plated bolt heads all over it like so many do. What is the little round thing under the left light? What town do you live in? I am going to Burlington Next week.

Thanks Showcrop, I'm about 90 miles North of Burlington,
10 miles North of Ionia and two miles East of M-66.

The symbol on the side is a Phoenix, since it was risen from the ashes.
