I have a '62 641 with a Ford FEL. When I got it it had a Prince PTO pump on it for the loader but as you can imagine, very difficult to use
because when you push in the clutch, no hydraulic pressure. I since changed it back to a used front pump off the crank and it worked ok. This
past winter I stripped the splines on the pump shaft and replaced them with ones I got from this site. They worked fine. I had a long time leak
from the pump which I repaired when I had the pump apart. It is a gear pump, a Hydreco, I believe the brand is. I no longer have the lift power
that I used to have and certainly less than what I had with the PTO pump. What would be my next step to test this pump? I am assuming that
the pump is worn. It was used when I got it (traded the PTO pump for it with someone from this forum). Where would I find a pump like this?
Would there be one with more oomph than what I have? I am a novice when it comes to hydraulics, but am willing to find out how to diagnose
it. I included some photos. The model number on the loader is 19-201.

Real simple to check it out. Install a T fitting in the pressure line going into the valve body. Then install a pressure gauge on the T. Then pull one of the controls and wait till the relief valve trip if it trips that is. That will tell you if you have the 2000-2500PSI you should have. I did that decades ago on my 841 with a loader and it was in it for years till it the gauge that is went bad. With a gauge there you can keep tabs on what is going on in the system and the cost is around $25 if that much

agree with Old, get a gauge on it. plumb it where you can leave it too.
Always nice to see what pressure is being made, but I add them so I can make sure they ain't making pressure/under load when they ain't supposed to be........which would make big heat.....very bad....

(quoted from post at 23:14:46 07/27/15) So the gauge acts as a relief of some sort? I didn't know that! Doug

No, it will just show you the pressure in the system, and if there is a pressure relief valve (most loaders have one inside the control valve) the gauge will show you the pressure at which the relief valve opens. You need to try to lift something that is actually too heavy for the loader to lift for the relief valve to open, or else lift the arms to the highest position and keep pushing the control handle as if you are trying to make it lift even higher.
