hey guys
I just recently finished restoring a 640 ford tractor. When I take it out for a spin on the road I get a clunking noise from the rear end. The noise is not constant so I wonder if my axle spacing may not be quite right or could this be some backlash from those 60 plus year old pinion gears. when I was spacing rear axles I did the turn test and the axles did turn opposite each other but it wasn't constant. it was like the opposite axle from which I was turning turned some and stopped and turned some and stopped. Could this be my clunking noise?
