Bought a new 860 last night

My wife and I picked up a new to us '54 860 last night. I've got a Jubilee that I've used for years, with no issues other than one new 6-volt battery, but I wanted something that would run a 6-foot brush hog (since the weeds are going nuts with all of the heat and moisture), plus the Jubilee is currently sitting at our cabin 800 miles away. The guy that we bought the 860 from bought it a year or so ago from the estate of the original owner who had bought it new back in '54. After he bought it he put on new rear rims and tubes and a nice set of almost new rear tires, a 12-volt conversion and a new battery, rebuilt the carb, put in a fresh tune-up with all new ignition components, new brakes, a nice new flip up Ford seat along with some other new components. Other than that the tractor is in origianl solid condition, even the tach is still working. He had done all of this work intending to keep the tractor but then decided that he needed a skid loader more to help him build his house so his wife said that he had to sell it. The tractor seems to start, run and drive great plus the live PTO will be nice for mowing. I got it for $2,500 plus a nice solid 5-ft brush hog (mine is at my cabin as well and I will look for a 6-footer later) for another $200. Seems like most of the ones around here are priced 2 or 3 hundred more with old back tires so I figured that the price wasn't too bad. Still sitting on the trailer now since we got home after my bed time but I am looking forward to using it tonight!

May have been built in 1954 but it would still be called a 1955. Tractors are like cars and you can buy a 2016 car right now.
