hello all 1st post!! I have a ford 860 looking to see if it is possible to put power steering on my tractor. I have a crappy elbow and it is getting harder to turn the wheel. Can someone give me some info on this or someone that has done this before would greatly be appreciated!

Someone more qualified will probably respond, but my take would be to find a tractor salvage yard and buy ALL the necessary parts. If you go that route, be sure to take plenty of detailed pictures of the assembly [i:dbf93799c1]before[/i:dbf93799c1] it if removed from the old machine.
Methinks it would be a lot easier to find and purchase a tractor already equipped with PS then sell yours.

You can retrofit a factory power steering system from a donor 57-64 Ford utility tractor. The going rate for a complete system is around $1,000.

That said, most of these systems are well worn and need some or, perhaps, quite a lot of repair to operate properly. You will likely find that you need to rebuild the control valve. You may also find that the pump and/or slave cylinders need work.

Alternatively, you can buy a new aftermarket PS kit from , e.g., Jackson Power Steering.

You would need to get the pump and
hydraulic lines, complete PS column,radius
rods,tie rods and cylinders.
As Dean said, the whole kit and kaboodle
will cost you most of a grand - before any
repairs. Best to buy a junk tractor with
PS and swap everything over to yours or as
OH 961 says buy a different tractor.
When I added PS to my 3000 I bought a
beater 3000 and swapped everything over. I
also stole the nearly new rear tires off
of it.
Then resold the beater.
When all was said and done I had about
$500 into the swap.
If I had to choose between live PTO and
power steering I would take PS about 2 to
1.

If you can't afford $800/$1000 to convert yours than a knucklebuster spinner on your steering wheel might help ease
your pain. About $10/$15 bucks. Mount in on the side with the uncrappy elbow.
