Ford 3000 I bought

Well I ended up buying that ford 3000 gas awhile back that set up a year or more. I got it for 800. Got it running and its doing good but 1 issue...the PTO spins fast and doesn't shut off even with a load. Is that the PTO brake out. Thanks

Refresh my memory... which transmission/pto does it have? Two possible reasons as to why the pto is powered when shut off could be a warped pto clutch disk, or the linkage being disconnected inside. I don't know of a 3000 with a pto brake.

"It has one shifter and power steering"

That would be a 4 speed transmission so it would have a transmission driven PTO. Are you saying it doesn't stop when you push the clutch or it doesn't stop when you move the PTO lever to off position? If it keeps turning when you push the clutch it would be a stuck clutch and the tractor won't stop when the trans is in gear.

no pto brake on a 3000 4 speed.

load the pto and then turn it off.. does it still spin?
