press on vs. bolt on waterpump pully

I have 641, has a press on pulley. I bought a box of new parts for pennys on the dollar, of which there was a waterpump. Pump on the tractor has a press on pully, new pump is a bolt on. What is the way around this?? Looking at parts lists I need a pulley and wonder if I won't need another fan as the descriptions don't seem to jive on bolt circle on the fans. Thanks in advance for any insights. I did some searching on this board but did not run across a answer. Am I best served to ebay the pump I have and buy one with a pressed on pulley?? The new pump is in a Ford/NH box and appears to be an OEM pump. Would prefer it over aftermarket. Thanks again.

I don't know the answer to your question, but your line of
thinking about keeping the original over aftermarket is spot on!
The original can be rebuilt if needed as another option.

Yes sir, just seems like a better choice based on opinion expressed on line but still could be a toss up. Anybody got a parts tractor with a pulley and a fan that is the bolt on style they want to sell?? Just the pulley and fan, Thanks.

Could be but the box of parts were things the seller had bought for a restoration, they were not in the shed with the tractor when it burned.

Labeled New Holland Parts, part number 3971351.

Thanks; That helps.
You could of had just a box of parts as you did not say these were parts someone bought for a specific restoration. Now that I know you have the correct part I do not mind spending the time typing all of this.
Would have been a waste of my time if you had a NAA pump.

I do not know the reason behind Ford making 2 different pumps for the same tractor but I can speculate that it has a lot to do with power steering. As the press on pulley pump was only available in a single pulley design.

Ford no longer services the press on pulley pump separately. (ie 3 blade fan and pulley) You can only buy the whole pump with the pulley installed.
They do service the other pump parts separately.

To change it out you will need the 4 blade fan and pulley like you suspect.
You will also need the fan spacer and longer bolts for the fan.

Another thing that is different between the 2 pumps is the fan diameter.
Your 3 blade fan should be 15.5 inches
The 4 hole 4 blade fan is 16 inches.

A 1/4 of a inch on each side may not seem like a lot but you will be surprised.
As far as I know both pumps use the same shroud.

This is the fan, spacer, and pulley you need to use that water pump.

Just in case someone is searching for answers to the problem I was experiencing.

I had an engine cooling problem in as much as the tractor would get increasingly hotter under heavier work. The task where this showed the most was running a 5 foot finish mower. The mowing was horse pasture that is regularly mowed but still had heavy spots, I cut it taller than a lawn would be. I could run about an hour until the temp was pushing 200 degrees on my gauge, could smell the motor getting near overheat.

Timing is right, radiator flows well, good cap. The waterpump impeller was good when I reworked the machine a couple years ago and was good when I took it off. No leaks.

Although it doesn't seem like much, the 4 blade fan moves far more air than the 3 blade. Not only the additional blade and diameter, with the two fans side by side, a greater blade pitch was also evident.

I appreciate the folks that posted below and Mr. Smith for the quality of parts, price, and service.

Going to the bolt on pulley pump cured my cooling problems.
