Power steering pulley removal

Anyone have any tips to removing the pulley for rebuild?

Tractor is a 1960 871. Pump was leaking and I pulled to rebuild. Got bolt out. Guessing I need a puller to get the pulley off the shaft but none of mine are working.

Those pulleys are normally not very tight on the shaft. A tap(just a tap) with a hammer might just do it. NAPA had the seal, by measurement.

Yeah I tried that first. Mine is stuck on tight.

Thinking I might hit it with a little heat

They are very brittle. I broke mine using a puller on the outside flanges even though i used what I thought was light pressure and taps on the housing with a hammer.

Yup mine has 2 small breaks around the outside.

doesn't seem to affect performance though so they can stay for now.

I did get mine off. heated it, then rigged up a steering wheel puller with a few pieces of flat stock slid under the pulley and it popped off.

Wish i'd have talked to you sooner. i'm still looking for one. Steiner tractor sells one for 55.00 plus shipping. Ouch!! All 'cause of impatience on my side.
Good job on your's!
