Previous owner cobbed up something on the left side lift arm, that has a broken flat spring, (#45 in the diagram attached below). Looks like it worked fine, but I'd obviously like to repair it correctly as the fit is off just a little with the replacement hardware I found on this side besides the previous. Looks metric according to the diagram part descriptions.
Calls for a "1/4" x 3/4" rivet, NLA from CNH, so is there anything special about these rivets ? Solid and mild steel I assume so its malleable enough to clinch somehow? That's the part that escapes me how do you set a rivet like this and have it clinch while holding the flat spring ? Not as easy as sickle sections, at least its just one LOL !
Additionally, is part #56 subject to excessive wear? Its shined up from use, but without a new one in hand to compare, I'm not sure if its just that or these do wear and at some point need replacement from same.
The left side lift arm on this tractor(4630)which I am working on parts 58-60 appears to be a pin with one threaded end, a spacer on the other end, hard to tell how its kept in place. On the right side, is just a pin with two holes and roll pins to secure it. The previous owner used a slightly smaller pin with a head and a cotter pin to hold in place. Would it be fair to say you could use the same thing that's on the right side which does look original to the tractor, or is the left side lift arm end different?
Maybe I've overlooked something that's been superseded with these, there is one #58 part listed, that is not illustrated. Maybe that's the same as the right lift arm? It looks like the pin with 2 roll pins, one on each end would work just fine.
These lift arm ends have been around a long time as I recall, but I've never had the pleasure of repairing one. As always... thanks !!!!
