what tractor do i have?

i bought a tractor and was told it was a 641. the year is 1962 i believe. the serial number is 163522. it says 631 above the serial number. the 631's are not suppose to have pto's but this one does. it also has a front loader on it. could the pto have been added? this is obviously an 01 series but weren't the 1962 versions part of the first industrial series? its a 4 speed with reverse and has rear lift and pto. I'm confused....what tractor do i have. 631? 641? 2000 industrial?

The 631 could be ordered with any option, it did not have a tachometer or lights, most dealers ordered it with the 3 point and pto. A 621 was more common to not have a 3 point if a backhoe was sold on it.

Well anyway thanks for that info....so its a 631 with an added pto as an option....that makes sense because it doesnt have the proof meter....

Here's a shot of the 631 I picked up last week. Mine also has the pto option. Notice no proofmeter and They also didn't come with a tool box with i'll have to add. They also had a heavy duty front end option that could have been added. It would have had a stick on the dogleg.

The difference in a 631 and a 641 is the 631 did not have all the options as stock.

Just like cars today.
Some models come with A/C; power windows; power locks; ect as stock equipment. You can not get the car without these items.
Some models come stripped down and you add what you want.
So if you wanted A/C but no power windows and locks you would order the stripped down model and add A/C.

You have a 631 that was built in April 1962.
The change over to the 2000 did not happen to August 1962.

Yea this one has already been converted to 12v but none of the gauges were changed/ none of them work.i found a kit online that comes with all the gauges including the proofmeter. So i guess ill cut a hole and install that too. I dont know if it has the heavy duty front end....ill have to go look. I dont know what the ones without the heavy duty front end look like. Ive never owned a tractor before, but snow, 3x3 bales and mounds of manure sucks to do by hand. Ive worked with alot of the newer john deere's (not mine)....something about this old ford though, is just Americana.

Yea, when the snow gets deep around here it's nice to have an old ford tractor with a loader to pile it up.

"I dont know what the ones without the heavy duty front end look like."

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the AG models had
adjustable width to fit varying rows/tasks. I believe the heavy
duty front end was non-adjustable.

Here's a pic of what the AG model would look like.
Multiple holes and two bolts to adjust the width.

Royce, just for some info re: Heavy Duty Front End. I have it on my 641. It looks identical to the standard AG front end but the spindles are
heavier. Possibly the hub and bearings, also. There are different part numbers, but I don't remember what they are. There was a very faded
sticker on the dog legs that could not be read directly, only obliquely. George Braddish has them. They come with the words "AND CLUTCH"
which apparently they cut off on the assembly line if you didn't order the heavy duty clutch. Steve
