I just bought a Ford 4000 blue and I love that tractor. I am pretty sure it is going to need a clutch soon. Any idea what it may cost to replace? Also is it normal for the Pto to engage without pushing the clutch in? Thanks is advance for your assist.

both 3 and 4 cyl models have 4000's i'm guessing you may have a 3 cyl?

a sos trannied model 3 or 4 has independent pto, and you can engage the pto without use of the inching pedal.

a 3 cyl with an 8spd and ind pto you can engage the pto without use of the foot clutch.. and stomping the clutch will not stop any of the independent pto's mentioned here.

Thank you for that insight! I am sure mine is 3 cyl. I love this tractor and will replace my MF 231S because it just if more fun to operate.
I do need to replace the clutch. Thanks again.

Is it slipping? If so, yes... If not, whats it doing?
