I'm the proud new owner of a 1964 2000. Tractor would barely run to load when I picked it up. Compression test showed 150-155psi on all cylinders. After some fresh
gas and a tune up she's running like a top.
Apparently the previous owner installed a new proof meter for a 5 speed trans in a 4 speed equipped tractor.
The new proof meter has the pto at about 1800 engine rpm's. After reading the manual the the 4 speed trans needs about 1500 engine rpm's to get 540 pto rpm's.
According to the proof meter the engine idles at about 8-900 rpm and at wide open throttle she'll hit 2400 rpm. I suspect I need to adjust some throttle and or governor
linkage. I'm doubting the proof meter as it doesn't sound like its over over-revving.
The questions:
Are the engine rpm's registering the same between the proof meters designed for the 4 or 5 speed transmissions?
Are the compression #'s good, bad, or ok?
What are the hi and low rpm settings?
