naa steering bearings

I have an NAA with a bad top bearing on the steering shaft. I bought top and bottom, plus the very top bushing and spring.

When I look at these new bearings (I bought em here) the just don't seem to want to fit in the bearing race like I expect. Maybe I expect them to act like tapered roller bearings, but they don't. I am talking about the bearing and the race that came new, together. They are made in china, which is never a big seller to any of us that do our own work.

The bottom bearing looked pretty good still, as it never lacked any lubrication. I thought about just reusing it.

Anybody else bought new steering bearings and were hesitant to install them? Or am I thinking too much? Should I use that bottom bearing over? It seems to act like I expect a bearing to act....

remember, they are barrel shaped rollers, not tapered.

note the top bearing surface on the worm shaft, .. does it match?

the biggest problems i have seen from new (chinese) bearings and old bearings are the cages the rollers are in. the new ones seem more flimsy, and every once in a blue moon you will see a slightly deformed cage that crushes upon proper insertion.

had that happen one time in about 12-15 sets i've purchased in the past few years
